Fees and Scholarships
Family Participation Payment
The Family Participation Payment for an Amigos Volunteer is $1,850.
This payment can be made in six installments; $50 refundable application fee due with completed application and five equal installments of $360 each, paid over a period of five months.
Scholarships
Amigos de las Americas seeks to make the Amigos Training and Services experience possible to a diverse array of youth. Depending upon the availability of funds and the applicant's eligibility and need, the Chicago North Chapter (in conjunction with Amigos International) may award individual applicants up to $1,850 (the full Family Participation Payment) in financial assistance. Criteria for selection are:
1. Determination and interest in the Amigos program.
2. Proven interest in leadership development and service.
3. Acceptable level of Spanish or Portuguese proficiency.
4. Gross family income of $55,000 or less (incomes greater than $55,000 may be considered if there are extenuating financial circumstances that would prevent participation in the Amigos program without financial assistance.)
5. Submission of the most recent IRS Tax Return verifying the gross family income.
Scholarship applications are included in the Amigos application (pages 24-25).
Completed scholarship applications can be turned in with the application, or for greater privacy, they may be separated from the application and mailed to the [chaptername] Chapter, to be received no later than [scholarship deadline], at the following address:
